Our Approach

For our elementary students, HPA uses the workshop model, which structures learning into a mini-lesson, workshop time, and a debrief to foster independent learning and allow students to explore concepts through hands-on activities.

Enrichment

Our elementary classrooms feature a 60-minute Enrichment class where students address content gaps or enhance their skills. During this period, they work with a teacher and a group tailored to their individual learning needs, rather than their grade level or homeroom teacher.

Daily Schedule

All of our elementary classrooms begin their day with free breakfast in the classroom, where they eat together, as a “family.”  After breakfast and school wide announcements are complete, we begin our daily morning meeting. Responsive Classroom Morning Meeting is an engaging way to start each day, building a strong sense of community, and setting children up for success socially and academically.
