HIGH POINT ACADEMY
Middle School (6-8)

Our Approach
For our middle school students, HPA uses the workshop model, which structures learning into a mini-lesson, workshop time, and a debrief to foster independent learning and allow students to explore concepts through hands-on activities.

Enrichment
Our middle school classrooms feature a 60-minute Enrichment class where students address content gaps or enhance their skills. During this period, they work with a teacher and a group tailored to their individual learning needs, rather than their grade level or homeroom teacher.
Daily Schedule
Our middle school students learn from teachers who specialize in specific subject areas like math, reading & writing, science and social studies. Students complement their learning by attending daily special classes such as physical education, wellness, art, music, Spanish, or technology.
Students also participate in a 30 to 40-minute advisory class daily, focusing on different activities each day to help build success as future leaders outside the classroom:
-
Monday: Bullying prevention program
-
Tuesday: Review grades and set academic goals
-
Wednesday: Guided work period to achieve set goals
-
Thursday: Community building lesson
-
Friday: Grade-level specific activities (service learning, guest speakers, community meetings)
