Alicia Austin is a fourth grade teacher at High Point Academy. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Minor in Elementary Education from The University of Northern Colorado. In June 2014, she completed a master’s degree in elementary education from The University of Northern Colorado. For the past two years she has taught Pre-K in Lone Tree, Co. She completed her student teaching in a 1st grade classroom in Cherry Creek School District. As a Colorado native she enjoys going to the mountains, inner tubing in the snow and hiking! In her free time she loves to spend time with family and friends, go shopping, bake, practice yoga and go to concerts.
Selene is a third-grade Instructional Assistant at High Point Academy.
Michelle is a fifth-grade Instruction Assistant at High Point Academy.
Danielle (Dana) Davis is the third grade teacher at High Point Academy. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Adams State College, a Master of Arts in Community Counseling from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Denver. Prior to joining High Point Academy she taught in grade levels kindergarten through second grade. She was also a therapist at a residential treatment facility. In her free time she enjoys reading, watching action movies, spending time with family, and watching basketball (she is a big Denver Nuggets fan). Danielle is a Colorado native born and raised in Colorado Springs.
Ashley Eisel is a fifth grade math teacher at High Point Academy. She attended and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wyoming. Over the past ten years she has taught various grade levels including three years of fourth grade and three years of fifth grade. In her free time she enjoys reading, spending time with her husband and two small children, and attending Wyoming Cowboy football games. She was born and raised in Wyoming, but has been in Colorado for the last eleven years.
Eva Hernandez is a third grade teacher at High Point Academy. Eva earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences and Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Eva comes to High Point Academy with experience as a classroom teachers, vice principal, principal, and educational trainer among other things. In her free time she enjoys cooking, entertaining family and friends, and exploring new eating venues. Her and her seven year old son are excited to join the High Point Academy family.
Cedric is a fourth-grade Instructional Assistant at High Point Academy. He grew up in an Air Force family who traveled a lot. Cedric recently relocated to Aurora from Florida. He is a graduate of Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. He also has three children Gabrielle, Hunter & Noelle.
Kate McDonald is the fifth grade English language arts teacher at High Point Academy. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Luther College in health and her master’s degree from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in health promotion and education. In her free time she enjoys running, cycling, being in the outdoors, watching and playing sports, and cooking.
Taylor Pratt-Thomas is the fourth grade science and social studies teacher at High Point Academy. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in Philosophy from the College of Charleston in 2011. He will receive a master’s in education from Adams State University in 2017. Along with his Master’s studies, Taylor completed his year of student teaching in a fourth and fifth combined classroom at Steele Elementary School near Denver’s Washington Park. Outside of education Taylor spends most of his time with his wife, Kenzie, and infant daughter, Skylar. They love to go hiking and camping together, watch live music, and stay active outdoors. Even though he grew up in the salt water of Charleston, SC, Taylor is quickly becoming an enthusiast of all things Colorado.
Jordyn Roles is a third grade teacher at High Point Academy. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts, Elementary Education from Colorado Mesa University. Prior to joining High Point Academy she was a teachers assistant at a preschool for two years, she student taught for one year in first grade, and was a paraeducator for a half of a school year. In her free time she enjoys reading, weight lifting, playing with her dog, watching new shows on Netflix, and outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and white water rafting.
Sean Sutherland is a fourth grade math teacher at High Point Academy. He earned his bachelors degree in environmental studies from the University of Colorado – Boulder and his masters degree in educational psychology and human growth and development from the University of Colorado – Denver. Prior to joining High Point Academy he worked for three years as a school age care site supervisor and kindergarten para-professional in Boulder Valley School District. In his free time he enjoys skiing, running, and anything outdoors or sports related. Sean is originally from Rehoboth, MA, but has called Colorado home since 2008.
Amarylli Yu Asensi
Amarylli Yu Asensi is a fifth-grade science and social studies teacher at High Point Academy. She earned a bachelors degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Houston-Victoria. Prior to joining High Point Academy she taught sixth grade English language arts, seventh grade social studies, and was an academic tutor for all grades and ages. In her free time she enjoys hiking, snowboarding, reading, going to concerts and listening to live music, participating in any sort of water activity, walking and playing with her dogs, playing softball, and watching Game of Thrones. She is originally from Houston, Texas.
