Luis was born in Chihuahua Mexico but resides in Colorado. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado and enjoys the beauty of Mother Nature.
Jessica Ranalletta, previously Ms. Schmidt, is High Point Academy’s Interim Middle School Assistant Principal. She’s been a part of the High Point Academy team since 2011. Previously, she taught seventh and eighth grade science and served as the Middle School Team Lead for five years. Jessica earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Metropolitan State University of Denver. She is currently working towards her master’s degree in educational leadership from Regis University. In her free time, Jessica enjoys traveling with her husband, Scott, spending time with her dog, Cami, playing competitive volleyball, and enjoying quality time with her family.
Angela Cummins is the sixth grade language arts teacher and gifted and talented coordinator at High Point Academy. She also is a girls’ volleyball coach. Prior to working at High Point, Angela was a teaching assistant and an AVID tutor. She also worked at the YMCA’s Leaders in Training program. Angela earned her Bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Secondary Education from the Metro State College of Denver. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, baking, and spending time with her family.
Kayla DeLong is the seventh grade language arts teacher at High Point Academy. Prior to working at High Point Academy Kayla worked as 6th and 7th grade Reading instructor at Sims Fayola International Academy, 9-12 Language Arts Instructor at Byers High School, and a Pre-GED instructor through the Community College of Denver. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado and continually completes professional development and collaborates with professors and future LA instructors from her alma mater. Outside of school, she spends her time with her children, watching movies with her husband, and enjoying the Colorado outdoors.
Emily DelRoss is the eighth grade language arts teacher at High Point Academy. She graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in English and Comparative Literature. Prior to working at High Point Academy Emily worked as a high school language arts teacher at Front Range Academy. Outside of school, she spends time with her family, loves to cook, garden and watch Green Bay Packer football.
Ashley Flournoy is a middle school instructional assistant at High Point Academy. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Science from Kansas State University. Prior to joining High Point Academy she taught third through fifth grade math in small groups for Denver Public Schools. In her free time she enjoys playing video games, watching documentaries and spending time with her family. Originally from Kansas City, Kansas, she moved to Denver three years ago with her two daughters and fiance.
Kelsey Mayka is the sixth grade science and social studies teacher at High Point Academy.
Teo Miu is the eighth grade science teacher at High Point Academy. He has a double major in theology and English from the University of Bucharest in Romania. He moved to the states in his early twenties and obtained a masters in educational psychology from the University of Colorado Denver with an emphasis in general science. He has taught middle school science for several years, led service learning projects for high school students in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador, and Romania, and taught outdoor education classes as well as worked as a mountain guide in Rocky Mountain National Park. In his free time he loves spending time outdoors with his wife and two children. They enjoy traveling the world, camping in remote areas, skiing to huts, mountain biking, canoeing, and pretty much anything else that involves mother nature. Teo is originally from Romania, where he first found his passion for nature while tending to his grandparents’ sheep on the hills of a little farm town. He then pursued his dream to travel and discovered Colorado which has become his home for the last seventeen years.
James Sherwood is the eighth grade math teacher at High Point Academy. He earned is bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University in mathematics with a concentration in statistics. In his free time he enjoys restoring classic cars, coaching, and many outdoor activities such as camping, fishing and hiking.
Brianne Thomas is sixth grade math teacher at High Point Academy. Brianne attained her Master of Education in Special Education from Regis University and her Bachelor of Art in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Elementary Education from California State University San Marcos. She student taught in kindergarten, first grade, fourth grade, and a fourth and fifth grade combination class. Her hobbies are reading and spending time with her husband, three children, and two dogs.
